Leaving It on the Court: Quick Tips to Reset Your Brain
As student-athletes, balancing practices, games, and homework can feel overwhelming. Ever sat down to study, only to have your mind drift back to a play or missed serve? Carrying "athlete mode" into your study time is completely normal, but it makes focusing tough.
Here are three quick, research-backed ways to reset:
Being a student-athlete is a team effort. If you ever feel overwhelmed, reach out to your coaches, teachers, school counselors, or stop by the Athletics, Arts, and Activities office.
Serving Up Excitement: Elementary School Volleyball Season Begins!
The energy on campus is building as our Elementary School (ES) student-athletes prepare to take the court for their first upcoming volleyball games of the season! ES students are coming early and practicing even before school starts!
At ISY, these initial ES volleyball fixtures are all about experience, exposure, and enjoyment. At this developmental stage, we intentionally do not keep score during games. Instead, our main focus is introducing our young Chinthes to the fundamentals of volleyball—teaching them how to serve, set, pass, and move together on the court—without the pressure of a scoreboard.
By focusing on participation over points, these games allow our students to experience all the incredible benefits that sports bring:
-
Teamwork & Collaboration: Learning to communicate, cheer each other on, and trust their teammates during rallies.
-
Resilience & Growth: Building confidence through trying new skills and learning from every play in a supportive environment.
-
Sportsmanship & Fun: Developing a lifelong love for physical activity, fair play, and healthy competition.
A Premier Destination for Athletics and Wellness
At ISY, we take immense pride in being a premier sporting hub. Our commitment to athletic excellence and holistic well-being is backed by top-tier campus facilities designed to support Chinthes of all ages:
-
24-Hour Gymnasium Access: Featuring double indoor gym courts that host our local YAC matches and international SEASAC competitions.
-
World-Class Fitness Center & Covered Courts: Outfitted with an open-access fitness and weight room as well as expansive covered outdoor courts for year-round training.
-
Aquatics & Athletics Fields: Complete with a dedicated swimming pool and expansive athletic fields to support our multi-sport athletes.
Whether our students are taking their very first serves in Elementary School or competing on the international SEASAC stage in High School, ISY is dedicated to fostering an environment where every athlete can grow, belong, and thrive.
Come out and support our young Chinthes at their upcoming games as they step onto the court with courage, enthusiasm, and plenty of Chinthe Spirit!
Go Chinthes!
