Mr Mike Simpson

Dear Secondary School Families,

At ISY, we are committed to preparing our students for life after school, not just for their next academic step, but for the challenges and opportunities of a complex, interconnected world.

The Myanmar International School Counselors Association (MISCA) University Fair this week was a great opportunity for our students to think about life after school. In meeting with university representatives, they were reflecting on who they are, what they care about, and how they might use their passions to fulfill their potential and make a positive difference.

Our upcoming Chinthe Expeditions provide our students with another opportunity to reflect on these important questions. By experiencing new cultures, serving others, working with others, and challenging and enjoying themselves mentally and physically, our students uncover and strengthen interests and talents and develop the curiosity and confidence to shape their own futures. I look forward to sharing our expedition planning with parents at our upcoming Chinthe Expedition Parent Nights. Please read on for more details.

Kind Regards,

Mr Mike Simpson
Secondary School Principal

MISCA University Fair 2025

Monday’s MISCA University Fair was a great success. 440 students from 13 Myanmar schools came together to explore their post-secondary options. 87 universities from 15 countries participated, with 12 universities travelling to meet our students in person. This was a valuable opportunity for our students to explore their post-secondary options and get admissions advice from the universities themselves. The students who attended certainly made the most of it.

Sports at ISY:  Personalized pathways to excellence

Sports at ISY are a defining part of our personalized learning experience, offering every student unmatched opportunities to discover their strengths and passions. As Myanmar’s only school competing in the South East Asia Student Activities Conference (SEASAC), ISY athletes stand on the region’s premier stage, competing at the highest level.

✨ What’s On:

On Thursday, we invite Grade 9 parents to join us for Grade 9 Parent Night. This session will provide families with important insights into the High School experience at ISY. It is a chance to ask questions and learn how we can work together to set our children up for success. Mr. Simpson will also provide an overview of Grade 9’s upcoming Chinthe Expedition to Vietnam. We look forward to seeing you there!

We extend a warm invitation to parents to join us on Wednesday, October 1, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm for a session led by our counselors, Mr Amundson-Geisel and Ms. Patty.
