Dear Parents,

Goodbye October, Hello November!  I do not know where October went. It was gone in the blink of an eye!

We had an absolutely joyful Spirit Week this week, culminating in our “Character Dress-Up Day” with a parade around the field. A big THANK YOU goes out to our Parent Association, with Paula Gil coordinating a special treat bag for each ISY student.

🤝 Parent Teacher Conferences: Wednesday, November 5, 2025

The ISY faculty are really looking forward to welcoming the parent community on campus on Wednesday, November 5, for our PTC. In addition to your scheduled meeting with the homeroom teacher, we encourage you to also conference with our other faculty. You can find them available at these locations:

  • Visit the Gym to meet with Specialist Teachers (Art, Music, PE, Counselor, etc.).

  • The Librarian will be in the Library.

Feel free to stop by either area before or after your homeroom conference

The PTCs are a valuable opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school, acting as an important touchpoint in your child's school journey. These conferences move beyond simply discussing grades; they provide a dedicated and intentional time for teachers to share insights into your child's social-emotional growth and classroom engagement and for you to communicate key information about their development outside of school. By fostering this collaborative dialogue, we can set aligned goals and identify the best strategies to support your child's success for the rest of the year.

Please remember that this is a parent-only event, so we ask that you make arrangements for your child's supervision before attending.

🏊‍♀️ Swimming

Swimming for Elementary School is back on November 3!  As outlined in the Parent Handbook:

“Swimming is an essential part of our Physical Education program and is taught once a week in all elementary school classes. Students are expected to swim unless they have a medical note from home.”

If your child is unable to swim for medical reasons, please provide a note to the homeroom teacher. We kindly ask that if your child is not well enough to participate in swimming, you consider whether they are well enough to attend school that day. If there are any extenuating circumstances regarding swimming, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

🗓 School schedule for next week

Please note the following schedule for next week:

❌ Tuesday, November 4: No school - Full Moon Day of Tasasungtaing Holiday

❌ Wednesday, November 5: No school for students.  This is your scheduled PTC day

Thursday, November 6: School resumes. Normal classes for all students

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead!

Regards,

Mr. Geoff Heney
