Mr Mike Simpson

Dear Secondary School Families,

Hello from India!

I am writing this blog on Thursday because, by the time it is published, I will be camping with our Grade 10 students on the river Ganga, the most important river in India. I have been in India with these students since Monday, and we will be returning this Monday.

It is such a privilege to be in this very special place with our students. I will write more on our experience in next week’s blog post, along with those of our Grade 9 students in Vietnam and Grade 11 students in Malaysia.

Internationalism at ISY: More than just International Day!

Thank you to everyone who helped make International Day such a meaningful celebration. Days like this remind me how fortunate we are to be part of such a diverse and generous community. Watching our students, families, and staff share food, stories, and traditions was a real highlight.

I am especially grateful to our Parent Association for the care they put into organizing the day. The cultural show was a standout moment, with students taking the lead and sharing their pride in who they are and where they come from.Kind Regards,

Mr. Mike Simpson

Building our Learning Communities: Present, Prepared, and Ready to Learn

We are now over four weeks into our second quarter. This is a particularly important quarter for our High School students, as the grades earned at the end of this quarter will go on their academic transcripts.

Regular and timely attendance is one of the most reliable indicators of academic success. To make the most of every learning opportunity, it is important that students are not unnecessarily missing or late to classes.

Parents receive automated emails that let you know if your child has been marked absent or late to a class that day. However, we understand that some students need more support from us to get to class on time. To help all students develop strong attendance habits, every week on Friday afternoon between 3:30 PM and 4:20 PM, there will be a compulsory supervised study session for those students who are late to (or skip) Period 1 twice in a week or late to (or skip) class 4 times in total in a week.

We appreciate your partnership in helping students develop strong attendance habits. Together, we can ensure that every student is present, prepared, and ready to learn each day.

🏅 Sports at ISY: Personalized pathways to excellence

Season continues for High School Basketball and Middle School Football.

✨ What’s On:What do top U.S. and U.K. universities actually look for? This session, geared for students and parents, breaks down how elite institutions evaluate students—from grades and test scores to extracurricular impact, character, interviews, and academic passion. Using real examples and insights from Harvard, Yale, Oxbridge, and more, we’ll explore what makes an application stand out and how students can prepare confidently (and healthily) for the process.
