⨠Looking Ahead: Preparing for Season 1 |
As this school year draws to a close, our focus shifts toward the future and preparing our Chinthes for a wonderful year of athletic growth and achievement. Season 1 will kick off quickly when we return to school, featuring an action-packed lineup of sports: SEASAC/YAC Volleyball, SEASAC 11-a-side Football, SEASAC Cross Country, SEASAC Golf, Middle School Basketball, and Elementary School Volleyball.
To ensure our student-athletes hit the ground running, preparation must begin over the summer months. Success in these competitive arenas depends heavily on individual work and self-management. We encourage all returning and aspiring athletes to maintain active fitness routines, focus on agility training, and build their physical endurance. Committing to summer conditioning reflects the true Chinthe spiritādemonstrating the reflection and dedication necessary to excel on the international stage.

Ā ā½ The Evolution of SEASAC Football: Shifting from 7-a-Side to 11-a-Side |
A structural evolution is coming to our High School Football program next year. For both our girls and boys teams, SEASAC Football will officially transition from a 7-a-side format to a full-pitch, 11-a-side game. While we will maintain the fast-paced 7-a-side format for our local YAC competitions, the shift to 11-a-side for SEASAC introduces a fundamentally different sport that will demand new levels of strategic thinking, collaboration, and physical conditioning from our players.
Playing on a full-sized pitch requires exceptional cardiovascular endurance, spatial awareness, and tactical discipline. Our athletes will need to master expansive positional play, understand complex offside rules, and execute longer, more precise passing sequences. This shift represents an incredible learning opportunity for our Chinthes to expand their athletic capabilities and test their courage against top-tier regional competition.
To prepare effectively for the demands of the 11-a-side game over the summer break, our football players should focus on the following key training areas:
-
Aerobic Conditioning: Build a strong cardiovascular base through long-distance running combined with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to mimic the continuous movement and sudden sprints of a full-pitch match.
-
Spatial and Tactical Awareness: Watch professional 11-a-side matches to study positional movements, defensive shifting, and how space is utilized on a larger field.
-
First Touch and Passing Precision: Practice long-range passing and trapping with a partner, or utilize a wall to refine your first touch, ensuring accuracy over extended distances.
-
Strength and Core Stability: Incorporate functional strength trainingāsuch as squats, lunges, and plyometric drillsāto improve explosive power and reduce the risk of injury on the larger field.
