The Stage of Growth: Benefits of Performance-Based Learning |
As we look forward to welcoming our community to campus for the upcoming music concerts, it is the perfect time to highlight the profound impact that performance-based experiences play in student growth.
At ISY, our arts programs are closely connected to our strategic themes of Learning and Belonging. Through rehearsals and performances, students develop confidence, creativity, resilience, and a strong sense of connection with one another.
Music and performing arts help students develop far more than performance skills. As students prepare, practice, and perform, they strengthen important learning skills such as focus, flexible thinking, self management, collaboration, and communication, while also building the confidence to express themselves with courage.
Performing also helps students develop important ISY Learner Attributes such as Courage and Reflection. Preparing for a concert encourages students to consistently critique their own work, adapt to feedback, and grow through challenges together. As students combine their voices, instruments, and talents, they experience the power of collaboration and shared purpose.
The joy and pride of performing together help strengthen the sense of belonging at the heart of ISY, ensuring every Chinthe feels valued and connected.
