Upcoming events for next week

Community, Collaboration, and Competition: The ISY Olympiad is Coming!Mark your calendars! Next Wednesday, January 28th, the entire campus will buzz with energy as we host our annual School Olympiad.

This isn’t just a sports day—it is a celebration of our school spirit. Students will break out of their usual grade-level bubbles and divide into their Chinthe Communities. These mixed-grade teams allow our oldest students to mentor our youngest, and our younger students to bring their energy and ideas to the table.

Together, teams will race around the campus completing a series of short, fun challenges designed to test more than just physical speed.

Why is the Olympiad meaningful? Beyond the fun and the points, the Olympiad is a practical application of our ISY Learner Attributes:

  • Collaboration: Success in these challenges requires teamwork. A mixed-age group must find ways to work together, utilizing the strengths of every member, big or small.

  • Communication: To solve problems quickly, students must listen to one another and articulate their strategies clearly across grade levels.

  • Compassion & Courage: Whether it’s cheering on a teammate who is trying something new or stepping up to lead a group, the Olympiad builds empathy and confidence.

We can’t wait to see our Chinthes in action, building connections that last long after the final whistle blows.

Get ready to cheer, ISY!

We are looking for a few more adventurous athletes to complete our Girls Badminton and Girls Softball rosters for the upcoming SEASAC season!

If you are on the fence about joining, here is why you should say "Yes":

1. It’s More Than Just a Game: SEASAC isn't just a tournament; it’s an experience. It’s the excitement of traveling with your team, the adrenaline of walking into a host school’s gym, and the pride of wearing the Chinthe jersey in an international setting. 2. Global Connections: You will meet students from all over Southeast Asia. The friendships made during these tournaments often last long after the final whistle. 3. Growth: There is no better way to build resilience and confidence (two of our Learner Attributes!) than competing on a big stage. Whether you are a veteran player or a determined beginner, you will come back a stronger person.

Don't let this opportunity fly by. We want YOU on the team!

Recent Match Highlights

HIGH SCHOOL
🏀 HS Girls Basketball: ISY 40 - 20 Network

The ISY team delivered their strongest performance of the 2026 YAC season so far in an impressive showing on the court. From the opening whistle, the Chinthes controlled the tempo, showcasing a significant improvement in their fundamental play.

The true difference-maker in this matchup was the team’s dominance on the boards. Rebounding was better than ever on both the offensive and defensive ends, allowing ISY to maintain possession and create second-chance opportunities. This control of the paint provided a stable foundation for the rest of the game's strategy.

True to the spirit of Chinthe athletics, the victory was a complete team effort. Much like the successful 2025 campaign, the scoring was distributed across the roster, with numerous players getting in on the action. This selfless play and "no 'I' in team" mentality proved that our collective strength is our greatest asset. A special thanks to Coach Just for stepping in to referee and supporting our student-athletes!

🏀 HS Boys Basketball: ISY 44 - 22 Network

The Chinthes secured a decisive victory this week in a game that demonstrated the importance of composure and depth. The matchup started tentatively, with the scoreboard remaining untouched for the first few minutes as the boys found their rhythm. However, once the initial nerves settled, ISY surged forward, closing the first quarter with a commanding lead of more than 10 points.

The strength of the performance lay in the team’s collective effort. With a comfortable lead established early, the entire roster saw significant floor time, and every player made positive contributions to the win.

Individually, Thant was a standout, showing excellent vision with his driving and passing to create scoring opportunities. Ty also delivered an exceptional all-around performance, finishing with a high shooting percentage while dominating the boards and anchoring the defense. It was a complete performance from start to finish, proving that when this team plays together, they are a formidable force on the court.

🥎 ISY Boys Softball Bulldogs & Pythons: 1 Win, 2 Losses

It was a weekend of high-intensity softball as our Chinthes faced off against the Bulldogs and the Pythons. The action began with a doubleheader against the Bulldogs, where ISY opened with a statement performance. Our athletes dominated the first game, securing a commanding 10-run victory fueled by remarkably consistent hitting and sharp fielding.

The second matchup against the Bulldogs proved to be a classic "nail-biter." ISY held the lead through the early innings, but the Bulldogs’ bats heated up late to seize the advantage. Entering the final inning down by three, the Chinthes showed incredible heart, driving in two runs to bring the tying and winning runs on base. Despite the late-inning rally, a hard-hit ball found a fielder’s glove for the final out, resulting in a tough one-run loss.

Sunday’s contest against the Pythons offered more valuable lessons. While the team continued to hit well, struggles with pitching accuracy and defensive catching made it difficult to keep pace. Though the results were mixed, the entire squad played with a competitive spirit that sets a great foundation for the weeks ahead.

🏀 HS Girls Basketball: ISY 27 - 21 YIS

The ISY High School Girls Basketball team showcased their grit this week, securing a hard-fought victory against YIS. The Chinthes set the tone early, starting the game with remarkable intensity on the boards. Their focus on the fundamentals was evident from the opening tip-off, as they aggressively pursued both offensive and defensive rebounds to establish a two-point cushion by halftime.

The second half saw the competitive energy rise as both teams adopted a more physical style of play. YIS managed to capitalize on a string of foul calls against ISY to gain a temporary advantage, testing our team's composure under pressure. However, the Chinthes remained resilient, leaning on their collective experience to navigate the high-stakes moments and regain control of the scoreboard.

It was a true total-team effort, with every player on the roster contributing to the final result. Beyond the win, the game served as a valuable learning opportunity, showcasing the players’ growing tactical knowledge and their ability to adapt mid-game. This victory is a testament to their continued development and unity on the court.

🏀 HS Boys Basketball: ISY 57 - 34 YIS

The ISY High School Boys Basketball team delivered a high-energy performance this week, securing a dominant 57-34 victory over YIS. From the opening tip-off, the starters set an aggressive tone by implementing a relentless full-court press. This defensive pressure rattled the opposition, forcing numerous turnovers that the Chinthes quickly converted into easy transition points.

On the offensive end, the team remained just as assertive, consistently driving to the hoop and outworking the YIS defense. Thant led the scoring charge with an impressive offensive display, accounting for the majority of the team's points. However, the victory was a result of a balanced effort, as every player who stepped onto the court contributed to the momentum.

The ability to maintain such a high level of intensity from start to finish was a testament to the boys' conditioning and teamwork. It was a well-rounded win that showcased our defensive identity and our ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. Great work, Chinthes!

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
🏀 ES Basketball: ISY vs. YIS

In the last game of the season, our ES basketball players truly shone against YIS. The afternoon was defined by excellent sportsmanship and a "team-first" attitude that resulted in ISY showing strong skills most of the quarters. Rather than chasing personal glory, the students focused on passing, supporting one another, and playing a clean game. It was a fitting conclusion to the season, showcasing just how much this group has grown together.
