Mr Mike Simpson

Dear Secondary School Families,

🙌 Welcome to 2026!

I hope you feel refreshed and ready for the second half of the school year.

We have another two seasons of sport with our High School athletes travelling internationally for basketball, touch rugby, tennis, softball, swimming, and badminton. Our Model United Nations delegates will also be travelling internationally, along with our musicians and artists. In addition to competitive sports, we will have our Family Sports Day next weekend and our Chinthe Communities Olympiad not long after that.

‘Once Upon a Mattress’ will be performed as our student production, and we look forward to our IB Diploma Art Exhibition and another Secondary School Music Concert.

It won’t be long before our Seniors enter examination mode, with mock exams in February, in preparation for the final IB Diploma exams beginning after Thingyan. This year, High School Prom will be held earlier in March to allow the Seniors to focus on exams and then celebrate with a trip of a lifetime to Ladakh, India, before their graduation ceremony on June 4.

And don’t forget to get your tickets for ISY’s 7th Annual Fundraising Gala, “Future Focused, Timeless Care” on March 28. Tickets will be on sale soon.

A new event that we would love you to attend and encourage your non-ISY friends to come to is our first Chinthe Discovery Day on Saturday, February 7. Feel free to share this with your friends, or register your interest here.  There is more information about this event in the notices below.

There is a lot to look forward to, and I am looking forward to working with all of you.

🦁 Middle School Chinthe Expeditions

I am writing this from Chiang Mai on our Middle School Chinthe Expedition. Our Grade 6, 7, and 8 students have been here all week hiking, kayaking, cooking, farming, working, boxing, climbing, zip-lining, elephanting, working, learning, and playing. They have been great company for our faculty chaperone team, who are very impressed with the way that they have engaged in all the activities together, with a lot of fun and energy. Our Thai guides love working with ISY students. They work with schools from all around the world, and they often say that our ISY students are their favorites. We agree!Kind Regards,

Mr. Mike Simpson
