While the score was not what the team hoped for, facing a high-caliber opponent provides invaluable competitive experience. The dedication of the team was clear, and we celebrate the standout effort of Thant, who continually stepped up to help the squad generate opportunities. Playing tough opposition highlights specific areas for growth—this game serves as a critical learning experience in refining defensive strategies, breaking the press, and improving rebounding. A major key to the victory was the defensive effort, highlighted by Starlette, who delivered two crucial blocks that shifted momentum. Offensively, the team continues to impress with a balanced scoring attack, as the points were once again spread out among many of the players on the court. This team-first approach and shared responsibility bode well for their continued success this season.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
🏀 ES Basketball

Our Elementary School basketball teams participated in a valuable friendly match against ILBC, with the primary goal of providing all young athletes with essential real-game experience in a new environment. This approach ensured that every boy and girl had fair playing time, focusing on learning, growth, and gaining court experience.

The game started brightly for ISY, with our strong Grade 5 lineup showcasing excellent teamwork, solid passing, and strong defense, resulting in a 5-1 lead in the first quarter. As the game progressed and the rotation included younger players, the ISY students encountered a very physical style of play. Despite the challenging play, our young athletes admirably maintained their composure and continued to play with courage and respect.

We are incredibly proud of the students for demonstrating courage, teamwork, and great sportsmanship in a demanding environment. Standout efforts were noted from Hein, Si Tu, Josh, Jack, and Zwe Zwe, who exemplified excellent teamwork and sportsmanship both on and off the court. The entire team represented ISY with pride.

Well done, ISY!
