Dear Secondary School Families,
| 🎄 Happy Holidays! |
It has been a very busy and festive week. Thank you to everyone who visited our Holiday Bazaar and attended our Holiday Concerts on Wednesday.
I remember our Holiday Bazaar back in 2018. It started with our pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students making and selling Christmas cards and decorations to their parents. Those students are now in middle school, and their holiday bazaar has grown into a well-attended, school-wide event we all look forward to.
This is a good reminder of the power of listening to our students and teaching them the skills that they need to turn their ideas into action. Their ideas and our support are what make things happen!
For me, these holidays are a time for reflecting on what I have and how lucky I am to have it. I feel very lucky to work in a school where even the youngest students are given opportunities to make a positive difference.
I hope the holiday gives you time to reflect, connect with loved ones, and enjoy a well-earned break. Thank you for your commitment to ISY and the trust you have in us to give your children opportunities to make the positive difference that the world needs. I wish you and your families a joyful and restful holiday.
| 🎶 Secondary School Music Concert |
I hope you were able to get along to our secondary school holiday concert. I love watching our students play music. I love how they get to choose the instruments they play and are clearly having fun learning how to play them. It takes a special music teacher to manage a roomful of middle school students playing all sorts of instruments at all levels, make it fun, and help every single student grow as a musician. We now have flautists, guitarists, trombone players, drummers, everything…. I wish I had a music teacher like Mr. Gonzalez when I was young!

| 🎁 Staff Appreciation |
We are so fortunate to have the staff we do. Our maintenance team, secretarial and administrative staff, custodians, security team, drivers, gardeners, and teaching assistants are the backbone of our school. Without them, we would not have the safe, welcoming, and efficient learning community that we might sometimes take for granted. This week, as is student tradition, our High School Student Council led us in recognizing and thanking our staff. Thank you for your donations and letting these wonderful people know how much we appreciate all they do for us.

After the break, it is our Middle School students’ turn to go on their Chinthe Expeditions. These students will be travelling to Chiang Mai on our first Monday, January 5. Middle School families, please look out for emails from our Secondary School Office for up-to-date travel information.
