August 27, 2026 - Elementary School Principal Blog

Dear Parents,

I have had a joyful week in the elementary school as I have had the opportunity to do read-alouds with many classes, connect with students on the playground & lunchroom, and watch how teachers have created a safe community of learners within their classroom spaces. Teachers have been intentional in getting to know your child both academically and social-emotionally through inclusion activities, establishing routines, and engaging with baseline assessments. All of these efforts help students transition smoothly and give our teachers valuable insight into your child's overall development. We are now into our third week of swimming! A gentle reminder that if your child needs to miss a swim class, a medical certificate is required.

If you notify the teacher that your child cannot swim without providing a medical note, your child will visit the medical clinic so our health team can assess them for class. As a rule of thumb, if your child is too unwell to participate in swimming, they may be too unwell to attend school.

Please rest assured that our pool is heated to a comfortable temperature year-round; illness is caused by the transmission of germs rather than exposure to cooler water. If your child forgets his/her bathing suit, we have extras to borrow!

✨ Upcoming Back to School Night (BTSN)

I am really looking forward to seeing you at our Back to School Night (BTSN) on September 3. We invite you to join us in the Chinthe Hub at 5:30 PM for our Director's opening message. Afterward, you may visit your child's homeroom for a presentation about the year, as well as meet our specialist and World Language teachers in the gym.

Please see the full Elementary School schedule:

If you haven't already, please take a moment to visit Mr. Ronnie Caldwell’s Secondary School Blog to view the Secondary School BTSN schedule.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend! As a reminder, there is no school this Friday.

Warm regards,

Mr Geoff Heney
